STROKE CLINICS

Short Course Race Skills Clinics

A 2 hour race clinic designed to help swimmers improve the technical and tactical skills needed for successful short course racing.

Who is the course for?

If your child swims competitively (competing from school level to national level) or simply swims for fitness, then these skill based clinics are for you.

How many swimmers per group?

A maximum of 15 swimmers are in the group with 2 coaches.

Who are the clinics designed & delivered by?
The clinics are designed and delivered by our experienced coaching team, who collectively bring over 30 years of coaching experience. This ensures swimmers receive clear explanations of the purpose behind each drill, and a strong understanding of the key concepts covered throughout the clinic.

What can I expect?

The program for each clinic will follow the below guidelines:

  • Welcome & Introduction – Meet the coaches and learn what key race skills will be covered throughout the clinic, along with how these skills can improve short course racing performance.

  • Race Preparation Warm Up – Swimmers will complete a structured warm up designed to prepare for high quality race skills work, with a focus on activation, streamlining, and speed through the water.

  • Race Skills Breakdown & Demonstration – Coaches will break down the critical components of successful racing, including starts, breakouts, turns, underwater work, pacing, and finishes. Swimmers will then progress through a series of drills and skill-based activities designed to improve race execution.

  • Race Application & Feedback – Swimmers will put their skills into practice through race-specific sets and scenarios. Coaches will provide individual feedback and highlight common errors that can impact race performance, along with strategies to correct them.

  • Wrap Up & Questions – The clinic will conclude with a recap of the key skills and racing concepts covered. Swimmers will leave with practical focus points to apply in training and competition, with time available for questions from both swimmers and parents.

What level are these clinics aimed at?

Swimmers must be aged over 8 and have prior knowledge for the stroke, not learning the stroke. At a minimum swimmers must be able to complete 50m unassisted for each stroke.
