Brisbane Metropolitan Swimming Champs: Results
Our team of 7 headed to Chandler on the weekend to take on the city’s finest in search of PBs. We had some fantastic results with many big PB’s and Saxon bringing home 4 golds!
Well done to all swimmers on their efforts, some outstanding efforts for the meet were:
Tahlia Hanson – Over a fantastic weekend of 5 swims, Tahlia was able to accumulate over 33 seconds in improvement. Well done, Tahlia!
Josie Longland – Her 100 FS swim was a well-executed race, swimming on her 50m PB time then racing hard home to score a 3 second PB. Great work, Josie!
Tom Longland – Tom swam a big PB for his 50m FS as well as improving his ranking to inside the top 10. Must have been a good brekky that morning in the Longland household.
Saxon Scheffler – In an outstanding third consecutive weekend racing, his 100 FR PB (59.67) was the highlight of the meet. This followed a 200 IM, which left Sax doubting his ability, as it wasn’t his best swim. Sax’s new determined mindset allowed him to further execute a 100 BS time, that only missed the district record by .24 of a second. Amazing versatility, Sax.

QLD State Sprint Champs - Results:
The Queensland State Sprint champs were held last weekend at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Element Swimming was represented well by 4 swimmers:
Thomas Kennedy:
10yrs 50m Free – 39.22
Paxton Tucker:
10yrs 50m Free – 37.66
Tahlia Hanson:
12yrs 50m Fly – 37.67
12yrs 50m Bk – 39.42 (PB time)
12yrs 50m Free – 33.92
Saxon Scheffler – Was our 4th swimmer with outstanding results claiming 4 Gold from 4 swims.
Saxon had one final chance to break his outstanding QLD record in the 50m Free set the weekend before at the Brisbane sprint champs. He went very close just missing his PB time of 26.66 by .03 of a second.
Saxon’s other swims this week were all PB times and surprisingly just missing the Queensland record in the 50m Breast of 35.25, swimming a time of 35.49 beating his previous best of 36.39.
Saxon’s 50m Fly swim also just missed the QLD record of 28.98, swimming a PB time of 29.29 beating his previous best of 29.89. He rounded the day off with a PB in the 50m Back, swimming a time of 33.29. Well done Saxon on a great meet and continuing to find more improvement!
Our Element Swimmers head to the Brisbane Metropolitan Champs this weekend for the final championship meet of the season.

Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd Feb - Brisbane Sprint Championships
With 13 competitors, 37 swims, 31 PBs, 5 top 10 swims, 4 Gold Medals, 1 Brisbane Swimming Record & 1 Queensland Record - we can conclude it was a successful weekend!
All swimmers did the club proud with their professionalism around pool deck and with some great determination in races to achieve a 84% PB strike rate.

Outstanding Efforts:
Saxon Scheffler – Took out all 4 events winning 4 gold for the weekend and all in new PB times. His Most outstanding swim for the weekend came from the 50m Freestyle where he broke the 11yrs Brisbane district record of 27.67 and the Queensland record of 27.46 in a PB time of 26.66. This could be a record that might be around for quite some time. WELL DONE SAXON!
Jack Mahoney - Swam in the 50m Free, Back & Breast, all in new PB times. He smashed all his PBs and improved his rankings dramatically, the biggest PB coming in his freestyle where his time came down from a 43.50 to a 38.62. Congratulations Jack on a fantastic day of swimming and keep up the good work in training.
Indiana Scheffler – was our only other swimmer to finish in the top 10 finishing in 5th in the 50m Breaststroke in a new PB time of 48.97. Well done Indi, not far away from a medal now.

** Churchie Meet Results **
We saw some great swimming and many PBs on Sunday 20th of Jan at the Churchie Meet. All our swimmers were looking good for the championship meets coming up.
Results:
30 PBs – From 38 swims
4 Gold – (3 – Saxon, 1 – Indi)
1 Silver – (Saxon)
Well done to all those swimmers who achieved PBs, medals and qualified for Brisbane Sprint Champs. Another great meet where our club was well represented in and out of the pool.

Also special mention to Laila Kefu for her loud cheering on Sunday, fantastic effort and would love to see more of it.
