What we offer

Beginner Swimmer Course

For absolute beginners, we will teach you to float, breathe & kick properly. Secondly, you will learn the fundamentals of the freestyle stroke and putting it together with a kick board or pull buoy and then without.

Intermediate Swimmer Course

We can help you swim faster and more efficiently. This level focuses on stroke correction with a range of technique targeted drills. Stroke efficiency will build and allow the swimmer to swim slowly at low intensity.

About our coaches

Ben Geard
Ben GeardHead Coach
Ben is a Silver Level accredited coach and has been involved with competitive swimming, both as a swimmer and coach, for the past 22 years. He started swimming competitively from the age of 10 and was a finalist at the Australian Open National Championships for 4 years.

He enjoys helping adults & children achieve their swimming goals from beginners right through to elite athletes.

Jack Riley
Jack RileyAssistant Coach
Jack Riley, has always had a love of the water. He began swimming at a young age, joined a swimming club and competed at major swim meets throughout his school years.

He qualified and competed at the Australian National Championships where he was selected in a number of elite and representative swimming teams.

Jack takes great pride in teaching swimming and water safety, and helping swimmers of all ages achieve their goals in the pool.

Norah Elvidge
Norah ElvidgeAssistant Coach
Norah has been a swim instructor for the past 12 years, and has experience teaching all ages and abilities. Her love of water began at a young age – she competed in swimming all through her youth and has recently returned to competition in Masters swimming. Outside of the pool, she is studying to be a nurse and brings a caring and detailed oriented approach to her lessons.
Britt McLean
Britt McLeanSenior Instructor
Britt is a qualified AUSTSwim Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety who has been with Element Swimming since 2017. She is currently studying Environmental Science at university and not surprisingly has a love of outdoors. Her calm nature & friendly manner make learning a new skill an enjoyable experience for any level.

Beginner Swimmers

Course duration: 10 weeks
Lesson duration: 45 mins

Who: This program is designed for those who have had very little to no water experience. We focus on teaching the correct breathing, kicking and body position and then introduce the freestyle stroke.

Where: 25m 9 lane outdoor heated pool on Halstead Street, Coorparoo

What’s included:

  • 10 x 45 min weekly private swimming lessons with one of our highly trained & experienced swimming coaches.
  • 7 x free pool sessions to come along and practice what you have learned under supervision. Full use of all pool equipment.

Simply book & pay for your first private lesson from the schedule below. Once the lesson is completed our head coach will discuss your swimming goals and book your further weekly sessions to complete the course.

Intermediate Swimmers

Course duration: 6 weeks
Lesson duration: 45 mins

Who: This program is for those who have had some lessons previously or are confident in the water and just want to learn how to swim more efficiently. Through technique focused drills, we can correct your stroke & help you understand how to swim faster with less effort.

Where: 25m 9 lane outdoor heated pool on Halstead Street, Coorparoo

What’s included:

  • 6 x 45 min weekly private swimming lessons with one of our highly trained & experienced swimming coaches.
  • 4 x free pool sessions to come along and practice what you have learned under supervision. Full use of all pool equipment.

Free Practice Times:

If you would like to practice any of the skills you have been taught in your lessons, we offer some allocated pool space for you to come down & swim for free. Come for as long or as little as you like in the timeslots below.

Step 2: Your swimming coach will recommend whether you should start the 10 week beginner course or 6 week intermediate course.
